30 HOURS
2.29.2004
12:29 AM
So, I'm back, my stomach is full again, and my mind is free for the time being.
This weekend, as you should know, I did all the videos for the 30 Hour Famine at our school. I spent endless hours on an empty stomach trying to edit video. The famine was okay. Loud, upbeat, and convicting. I had fun doing the tech stuff, although I would always get nervous that something would go wrong or I'd make a small error (which I made a few). Allen can sometimes get annoying with you trying to do everything his way and getting dinged by him when you don't do something right or something that will make him look bad. Like this evening, he got mad at a couple of seniors because they were putting something away they were told to clean up, but didn't know how, and Allen was afraid he'd get in trouble since he didn't know if they were supposed to touch that. Anyways, it's really annoying, but he does things efficiently. Other than that, it was fun.
Oh, since lot's of ppl's blogs are making mention of this:
JUNIORS WON THE SKIT AGAIN! TWO YEARS IN A ROW!!!
THIS WEEKEND
2.26.2004
11:56 PM
In a few short hours begins the longest, most tormenting weekend in my life. I will rest for probably 5 short hours to be awoken, depart for school and take a Physics test that I didn't study for because of this video that I had to do. I suffer through school attempting to stay conscious, then prepare for the famine. 30 hours on my feet, doing tech and other work. I do the Friday night stuff, get home after midnight, and edit more video, two videos for Saturday morning. I sleep maybe 4 hours and depart early for the school the next day to do Saturday stuff, then come back home and - edit more video. I go back to the school and do Saturday evening stuff until after 8 when everyone has to help clean the entire campus. All this without eating any food at all! And when I am allowed to eat again, it's beans and rice. So to sum it all up, I am and will be:
tired, hungry, unprepared, sleepy, bloodshot, glazed over eyes, sore, and overall not in an entirely happy mood.
But I'm thankful I get the opportunity to participate in this event! Until Sunday, cya!
NEWS BRIEFS
2.25.2004
8:18 PM
Briefly:
Thanks Alex a.k.a. XNS for the IEEE1394 cable, bought one already though.
Also got the 2 Splinter Cell missions. I was going to spend $20 on the Feb. and March issues of XBM, both which I have. I needed the demo disc for the sole purpose of getting the SC missions, one from each month. I went to GameStop today and found the March XBM. The Feb one was out of print already, so I was going to buy the march issue and keep looking. The guys there understood my needs, being the Splinter Cell was "their game" as it is mine, so they found a $5 demo disc of Tom Clancy games, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell demos, as well as all 3 Splinter Cell missions. PTL for my sucess!
Whoever posted the lone comment on my blog, thanks for the prayer. My uncle is slowly recovering. On the flipside, my grandma had to get her appendix removed yesterday, and another great-aunt hit her head and is having trouble maneuvering herself.
I finally got my 30 hour famine duties. I'm doing Powerpoint Friday night, and are also producing all of the videos. That will keep me extremely busy all weekend.
WEEKLY RANTINGS
2.24.2004
5:00 PM
I've gotten so busy lately I haven't had time to post. But here's an overview of what's happening...
We've been praying continually for my great-aunt and uncle. Especially my great-uncle because he had a minor stroke last week and is recovering in the hospital, but may never be the same again. They're both in their late 80's and my great-uncle is not a Christian. To add to the need of prayer, my uncle hasn't set up a trust or anything, so my mom has to take care of that.
Now that I officially quit tennis, you'd think I have a bit more time, eh? My mom was asking me a few days ago when I thought a good time for LESSONS may be. I was all like "the reason I quit was so I could have time to work on other needed things, not open up time for lessons!"
Eagle COH invites have been sent, and if you don't receive one by tomorrow, either your mailman stinks like mine or I didn't invite you. In either case, contact me and RSVP ASAP!!! Now i need to start putting together a program.
physics stinks.
I need to pick up an Xbox magazine for Feb and March. need the demo disk to load Splinter Cell levels. Also need a firewire cable. if you have any of the above, contact me.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST OPENS TONIGHT!!! I'm seeing it at least twice: once with my school next Wed. and probably once with SOS next Fri., with some more showings with family probably. I want to see it earlier though. How about Thursday anyone!? =)
Old computer has been wiped, WinXP installed. I got most of the necessary progs on except Office.
More rants when I have time!
FRIDAY UPDATES
2.21.2004
1:10 AM
First off, I finally got my Expert Guide on Scouting finished. Don't anticipate it being posted on the net for another couple of months, the dang guide is 23 pages long. My 8 page newbie guide alone took a month to edit. At least it's finished - the first revision that is. I'll be adding more merit badges for next time. Oh yeah, did I mention I get a "100% raise?" That means an extra $50 Amazon G.C.!
Second, my computer in the computer room has gotten to the point where it's totally disfunctional. When the computer first starts, the BSOD repeatedly comes up saying DISK WRITE ERROR ON DRIVE C. Can't do much about it, can't even get back into Windows until I press OK about 20 times. Annoying if you ask me. So I finally decided to type in the magic command. Yes, I mean format C:. So drive C is now nice and clean. Next comes the long part, the reinstallation.
As a result, the printer is in my room now.
Going off on a tangent, I read in XBM about Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. They said it was a really great game. Can't wait to get it, comes out 3/16. While I wait, I need to pick up Feb and March isses of XBM at the store. THe demo disks have two new Splinter Cell levels.
SHATTERED DREAMS
2.18.2004
5:46 PM
I've reached the end of the road this year, at least for VCHS tennis. It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I have officially quit the tennis team. Do not misunderstand me, I REALLY REALLY wanted to play on the team this year. Ever since Zack bugged the sport's staff about a tennis team, I was #2. I've trained all of fall for this in lessons and conditioning. Unfortunately, different things have been placed in my life in the next few months that I must attend to. For some reason, God has allowed this door to be closed. I know not why, but I trust that God has a good reason, and that someday I'll realize it and thank God for allowing this to happen.
AND THEN IT SUDDENLY DAWNED ON ME...
2.16.2004
9:44 PM
That stress that juniors typically get about middle of 3rd quarter has arrived, and stuff hasn't piled up yet; it's just come to haunt me, looking me in the eye with an evil laugh. And on top of that, I got an email from my Tennis coach today saying he'll be cutting up to 5 people. Adding to the already abundant confusion is now another dillemma. Part of me wants to play because 1. I'm relatively good 2. this may be my last chance 3. i just want to play. The other part of me is reminded of all the other things going on, visions of things to come and how they're going to hit me like a brick when I'm not ready. I really don't know which to choose. I know that if I get cut, that's God saying that I'm busy. My life may get extremely hectic if I commit.
Here's an overview of what I've got on my plate:
Basically, 5 days a week 3:30-5 is tennis practice
-Mondays weekly is piano, already a compromise
-1 weekend or 1 weekday a month is APUSH study sessions, possibly another compromise
-Fridays is always youth group, which is not a problem unless it's an away match
-Fair ambassadors is expected to start soon with one Saturday/month meeting
-SAT's and ACT's are a Saturday, as well as the need to study
-7th period is pre-cal, a class that will be very difficult to skip once a week. I'm trying to switch with art, but it's doubtful
-CM is the 2nd saturday in March
-Chapel Leadership project is some Saturday in March
hmm, based on the circumstances...
I NEED PRAYER DESPERATELY!!!
THE WEEKEND
2.15.2004
2:21 AM
Briefly...(since it's 2 in the morning and I'm half-asleep)
- 2 OF 4 COMPUTERS ACTING UP - Still can't fix our old comp. in our computer room. Hopefully will run fdisk and go through the process of reinstalling windows as soon as i get some real free time and backup everything. Other computer is the one i'm using. Word won't print or change fonts, or insert symbols, excel does similar, photoshop takes 10 minutes to load...aiyah. fdisk soon, need to transfer stuff to my other HD. Next time I'll partition my 2 HD's so my problems won't cause me as much frustration. *sigh, if money grew on trees, i'd own a G5 instead...
-LOTS OF HOMEWORK. STILL. - I had a totally free day today filled with nothing. I've got Lit. homework, pre-cal, physics, APUSH, did nothing today. Just sat and watched Star Trek movies all day
-WEBSITE - CBM website coming soon! i just need to get the info and make a draft, etc. anticipate it by this summer at the latest. as for my personal website...
-SCHOOL - I was privileged to be part of Mrs. T's "inner programming" group on Friday, planning for the 30 hour famine in a few weeks. I'll be working in tech and media, and will probably be spending the wee morning hours like now editing video, only on a really empty stomach. Mr. Anderson is now officially a bachelor no more! =) (and Mrs. Ruff has a new son-in-law hehe) And we don't have a lit teacher for the next week because of this. And we have an APUSH in-class essay that we know nothing about because of this. All my friends are going to homecoming in a few weeks. They're all like "SCOTT! SCOTT! YOU GOTTA GO TO HOMECOMING!" and I'm all like "NO! NO!" Finally, I'm going to try to switch 6th period Art and 7th period Pre-Cal, which will ease my pain after a long day of tennis team, an away game, leaving during 6th period.
-EAGLE COH - Speaker letters have gone out, one has been confirmed, hopefully the others will respond REAL soon. T905 labels have been printed. I got some invitations yesterday so I might end up working on those tomorrow or Monday. I also need to start working on the program and script. If I know you pretty well, expect and invite in the next week or so. And say yes that you're coming.
-RANDOM MUSINGS - Finally got my Star Trek VI DVD, err, two of them. Amazon shipped one via USPS and it didn't arrive for like 3 weeks, so after 1 week and 6 days, I emailed them and they shipped another one via UPS 2 day, which arrived the day after my original one did. Have to ship the other one back. The moral: never use USPS. I hate USPS. I have about $150 on my desk waiting to be spent. Some company better release those keyboards soon! I've reached $56.50 on Gozing payments. They've paid me about $20 of it, but at least $56.50 will be paid by June, if not more. I'm due for $50 from allyousubmitters, hopefully will get a check from them in the next month. Porivo owes me another $5.21 so far, with another 14 days x $.10 = $1.40 more by the end of Feb.
hmm, so much for BRIEFLY
SUPERHEROS
2.12.2004
8:59 PM
Our youth group holds a monthly tradition of comparing a Bible character with a superhero from the Justice League series, sometimes quite a stretch. But this week is the last superhero, and as SOS prez, I get the privilege of acting goofy =) I'll be playing Superman, a very difficult character to play since capes and red underwear aren't your typical household items.
Here's a sneak peek at how I'll look (or what I'll look like): Bright blue Alameda County Fair polo with my bright red promotion gown safety-pinned to my back and the Superman logo taped to my chest (cape and top). Darker blue PJ bottoms, and a CONSTRUCTION PAPER AND RED DUCT TAPE "UNDERWEAR"! I look so stupid, but that's the joy of it! I've got two laser pointers as my "heat eyes" and a little stunt to make me look as if I'm "flying". I'll post some pics when I get them, if i'm not already too embarressed!

THE ROAD AHEAD
2.08.2004
7:30 PM
Okay, so I'm well into 2nd semester, a few weeks into being age 17 (or you can say a few weeks less till becoming a legal adult lol). I got a ton of stuff coming up so the next 4 months will not come easy for me. I really wished I wasn't so busy though. I was hoping to tutor in something easy like Chem or Algebra. There's a number of people who need a tutor and are willing to pay $$$ for it. *sigh. well, since that's out of the picture, here's my abbreviated schedule of events...
1.) VCHS Tennis team - now until end of May, 4 days a week 3:15 to at least 5 ughh
2a.) hehe, forgot this one oh well: 30 Hour Famine - Last friday of feb. for...30 hours!
2.) CM Exams - March 20, location unknown
3.) Eagle Court of Honor - March 21, not ready
4.) AP Exams - 1st week of May, i'm dead.
5.) SOS - Fridays, ongoing
SAT's and ACT's - some Saturday - never ready
6.) Ask about next year - ASAP
PROJECTS:
1.) Chapel Leadership service project - Due end of March - didn't start (some Eagle scout I am...)
2.) CBM website - TBA
3.) Run fdisk on all computers - whenever I have time
4.) my own website - won't happen for a long time, sorry
hmm, there's a lot more, but i don't have time to put it all up. If i think of more, i'll update it.

I would just like to give God an especially big THANK YOU today. Today, my granparents went to visit our church for our Chinese New Year's Service, and my grandfather accepted the Lord! PTL! Please continue praying for both my grandmothers. We are still very concerned for their souls.
"In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
